During the spring I was working on paintings to make into cards.
I had just designed a card that said TODAY in large block letters and was getting ready to transfer the design to my watercolor paper. . . and I doodled Begin - very small, maybe 2 inches. Then I drew it full size - I paint the cards in a 9 by 12 inch format - worked on that design and began to paint it. It was the message I needed at that moment.
Begin! I love new projects - finishing projects not so much - but NEW projects are very exciting. The beginning of a new painting is almost my favorite part - most of the page
is white but there are a few shapes and a few colors. The rest is all imagined possibilities . . ! It's a lovely time for me.
I had been thinking about starting a business for a few years - initially just to show and sell some of my paintings. The idea to make cards appeared and developed and I went on a retreat with some friends who are artists and the idea continued but just as an idea. Starting a business is intimidating - there are forms and tax stuff and many, many details. I like details but can get lost and stuck in them. So, in the spring of 2018, I painted the Begin card to help me get started and continue moving forward.
